One of the things you need to do before you apply for a Singapore eVisa is to prepare all the required documentation so that the application process runs smoothly. Fortunately for you, the documents required for a Singapore visa are nothing out of the ordinary, and chances are that you have almost everything you need.

Singapore photo

What you should know from the start is that the documents required for a Singapore visa are broken down into two categories:

  • First, we have the required documents that you need during the application process so that it is successful.

  • And the second consists of documents you need when you arrive in Singapore.

As you can imagine, together with the documents, you need to provide some other information as well.

First category

As far as the first category is concerned, iVisa will ask you for a few documents and information while you fill in the application form. Here is what you need to get the process started:

  • Passport – all applicants who wish to obtain a Singapore visa online or otherwise need to have a valid passport. However, it is not enough for the passport to maintain its validity when you arrive in Singapore. According to Singapore’s visa policy, the passport cannot expire for at least another 6 months from the date of departure FROM Singapore. Make sure that the document has at least one blank page.

  • Digital photo – a photo that helps with your visual identity is also required, but it needs to follow some guidelines. For one thing, the picture needs to be taken in the last three months. You would be surprised how many visa applications are turned down because of an inadequate photo.

  • E-mail address – an online application process entails that your visa will be sent to you via e-mail. You need to have access to the address you give when you fill in the form. At the same time, remember to print out the document when you receive it.

  • Means of payment – when you get your Singapore visa online, you will be asked to make the payment during the application process. You can use a credit or a debit card, but iVisa accepts PayPal as well.

Second category

The second category of documents required for a Singapore visa is needed when you arrive at the airport in Singapore. Here is what you need to provide:

  • Proof of sufficient funds for the entire trip.

  • A return or onward ticket – the immigration officers just want to make sure that you will not stay in Singapore more than the visa allows

  • A completed disembarkation/embarkation card.

  • Entry documents for your next destination – of course, this does not apply unless you plan to travel from Singapore to another country other than the one of origin

  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate – this applies only to certain nationalities or other tourists who have been in a country prone to Yellow fever in the recent past.

As you can see, there is nothing challenging to obtain on those lists. However, keep in mind that the list may not be complete. In some cases, iVisa will ask you for some additional documents. For instance, let’s say that you travel with your minor child but without the other parents. To get your visa, you need to provide a death certificate for the other parent, if that is the case or an authorization letter that contains the approval of the other parent so that you can travel with the minor.
