There are 21 countries whose citizens require a consular visa to enter Sri Lanka, and one of them is Kenya. If you're a Kenyan citizen, you need a consular visa to travel to Sri Lanka, but that might change in the future with the upcoming Sri Lankan ETA. The ETA is an electronic document available through an online process, and it's a great option for those who don't want to waste time at the embassy.

Do Kenyan citizens need a Visa to Enter Sri Lanka?

Yes, Kenyans need a visa to enter Sri Lanka. You can only have a consular visa by now, but you'll be able to apply for a Sri Lankan ETA very soon.

What is the Sri Lanka Tourist ETA?

The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is the name of the official document that allows you to enter Sri Lanka for tourism purposes. If you want to travel to Sri Lanka for business purposes, you have to apply for a Business ETA.

How long can I stay in Sri Lanka with an ETA?

Every citizen who applies for a Sri Lankan ETA can stay in the country for 30 days in Total.

What documents do I need to apply?

The online application form is very easy, but you still have to provide some documents to start. You don't have to despair about the requirements, they're not impossible to get. You only need:

  • A valid passport for at least 6 months from the expected date of departure.

  • Digital passport photo.

  • Credit/debit card or PayPal account to pay your ETA.

  • Return or onward flight ticket – this requirement applies only for the citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, and Syria.

  • Valid e-mail address – to get your ETA in PDF format (it's recommended to have a digital or physical copy of the ETA).

How long is the Sri Lankan ETA valid for?

You can use this document for 30 days after arrival.

What are the processing times and prices for Kenyan Citizens?

You need to know that the price of your ETA changes according to how soon you want to receive it. The faster you needyour ETA, the more you'll have to pay. These are your options:

  • Standard processing – You'll wait 3 days by paying USD $100.99.

  • Rush processing – With this alternative, your ETA is ready in 24 hours and you have to pay USD $152.99 (services fee included).

  • Super Rush processing – You'll have to pay USD $225.99, but you'll have the application ready in 12 hours.

How much time do I need to apply?

You only need at least 20 minutes to complete your online form.

How can I apply?

It's very easy to complete the application form, especially because iVisa created an easy 2-step process:

  1. The first step will ask you to fill in your basic information (including passport id and address). Also, you must choose the type of ETA you prefer (it can be tourist or business) and the processing time.

  2. The second step will ask you to pay for the service and it'll also require you to review the information you gave in step one. As for the review, all the information you provide must be 100% accurate. Keep in mind that if there's any mistake in your online form after it's sent, you won't be able to correct it and you'll have to repeat the process

Do I need to get separate Tourist ETAs for my kids?

It depends on your kid's age. If your kids areunder 12 years old, then they're exempt from paying the ETA.

How do I know if my Sri Lanka ETA is approved?
