Thailand is known for its ease of travel within Asia, offering an impressive array of sights, from the serene beaches of Koh Tao to the historic city of Ayutthaya. The country is traveler-friendly, with widely available English language resources and public transport running well into the night. However, there's still some prep work to do, like knowing how to properly fill out the Visa On Arrival form.

We'll walk you through the most important points to consider when tackling the Thailand Visa On Arrival (VOA) application form to ensure your submission goes smoothly.

Thanks to iVisa, you can apply for the VOA from the comfort of your home. So, instead of waiting in long queues at the immigration desk at a checkpoint in Thailand, you can have your Thailand VOA pre-approved.

What is a Thailand Visa On Arrival?

The Thailand Visa On Arrival streamlines entry into the country, allowing travelers from eligible countries to secure a tourist visa right at Thailand's international entry points without prior application.

This VOA is designed for short-term visits, granting a single stay of up to 15 days Per Entry. During this time, holders aren't permitted to engage in long-term residence, seek employment, or access state services or benefits.

Currently, citizens of 19 countries can take advantage of the VOA for their Thai travels. There's no need for them to apply for a tourist visa beforehand. To check if you fall into this category, use our handy Visa Checker Tool.

Requirements for a Thailand VOA

To be eligible for a Visa On Arrival (VOA) for Thailand, travelers must meet the following criteria:

  1. You must originate from a nation on the list of countries whose citizens can apply for the VOA.

  2. Your visit to Thailand should be for tourism purposes only.

  3. You need to have a passport that remains valid for at least 30 days after arrival in Thailand, with a minimum of one page free for the visa stamp.

  4. You should provide a verifiable address in Thailand, such as a hotel or apartment where you'll stay.

  5. You must possess a confirmed return ticket that shows you'll leave Thailand within 15 days of arrival. Please note that open-ended tickets aren't accepted.

  6. You're required to show evidence of sufficient funds for your visit: at least 10,000 THB (about US$279.45) for individual travelers or 20,000 THB (about US$558.90) for families.

  7. A VOA fee of 2,000 THB is applicable, which must be paid in Thai currency and in cash at the point of entry.
